Temple Israel ‘‘Follies” Will Mark Its Eleventh Year Of High Comedy
POSTED: JANUARY 2012
If laughing at oneself is considered the highest form of comedy, the thespians of New Rochelle’s Temple Israel win the acclamation with ease. They will offer once again their tongue-in-cheek version of Temple activities at a performance set for 8:15 pm, Saturday, February 4th.
This year’s event marks the eleventh year that these normally sober, solid Temple members will let their hair down and skewer the staff, clergy and their fellow members in “Les Mishegos”(a Hebrew word roughly translated as crazy ones). The show is described by one of the producers, Bruce Turkle, as a “satirical look at the origins of the Temple’s revitalized early childhood program, Kehillah, which provides educational services for children as young as 6 months old.”
The program will be preceded by a Wine and Cheese Reception at 7:15 pm and will be followed by a dessert reception following the show at 9:30 pm. Tickets are $40.
Producers of the Follies are Bruce Turkle, Marcia Nackenson, Nanette Sacks, Michael Richman and Beth Feldman. The show was written by Bruce Turkle, Beth Feldman and Matthew Turkle, with editorial input from Marcia Nackenson and Nanette Sacks. The latter is also the show’s director and Michael Richman is the musical director.
For additional information and tickets, please call the Temple office, (914) 235-1800. Temple Israel is located at 1000 Pine Brook Blvd.
Performers shown in photo are David Karlin, Robin Frankel and Lewis Goldman
