Mahopac Resident Named “Most Inspiring Person of the Year”

For his charitable work to establish the anniversary of September 11 as an annually recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance, Mahopac, resident Jay S. Winuk, co-founder and vice president of MyGoodDeed (www.911day.org), has been chosen to receive the 2011 “Most Inspiring Person of the Year Award” by readers of Beliefnet, the most comprehensive multi-faith online resource for inspiration and spirituality.
Jay, his wife Carolyn, and their two children, Justin and Melanie, are members of Temple Beth Elohim in Brewster.
This year, the 10th anniversary of 9/11 was the largest day of service in the history of the United States, with more than 30 million people observing the day in service to others in honor of those lost in the tragedy. Among the other nine nominees for the Beliefnet award were the late Steve Jobs of Apple, baseball superstar Albert Pujols, evangelist Billy Graham, pastor Joel Osteen and NCAA national championship head basketball coach Pat Summitt of Tennessee.
