Fairway Wines & Spirits Shop
Opens in Pelham Manor

Fairway Wines & Spirits (847A Pelham Parkway), an approximately 6,000 square foot store adjacent to the new Fairway “Like No Other Market” in the Post Road Plaza Shopping Center in Pelham Manor, opened on Wednesday, May 26, 2010.

The wines and spirits shop will feature approximately 2,200 wines and more than 350 varieties of spirits from around the world. There will be a temperature controlled room for the high-end wines, a tasting bar, and a highly qualified staff of specialists and sommeliers on the premises to help customers with choices.

“Giving our customers the best and widest variety there is to offer at the most reasonable prices is what has made Fairway Market so successful,” said Howie Glickberg, grandson of Fairway’s founder. “Our first wines and spirits shop will follow that same tradition with an extraordinary selection at great prices.”

The wine selections will include the large national brands, Kosher wines, organic and biodynamic wines, sparkling and dessert wines and a variety of esoteric wines from smaller vineyards, including those in the tri-state area. Fairway also intends to carry wines from different parts of the world that will be exclusive to Fairway Wines & Spirits, according to Angelo Martelli, Wine Director for Fairway and a Certified Specialist of Wine from the Society of Wine Educators.

Shoppers will find liquors of every type from all regions of the world, ranging from high-end brands to very economical ones. The store will also offer events with winemakers, bottle signings and tastings with brand ambassadors, as well as an array of glassware, corkscrews and informative guides on wine and liquor.

Additionally, U.S. Representative Nita M. Lowey greeted shoppers and staff members and presented Howie Glickberg and his son Dan expressing gratitude to the company for hiring 400 area residents for its new Pelham Manor store.

The store’s hours will be Monday-Thursday 9AM to 9PM, Friday-Saturday 9AM to 10PM and Sunday 2PM to 7PM. A website - www.fairwaywines.com is coming soon.
